Lee Meehan is best known on the Irish music circuit for being a blues guitarist and singer with bands including Don Baker, The Business, Damien Dempsey and Mik Pyro (Republic of Loose).
After hearing jazz guitar great Wes Montgomery for the first time, Lee became fascinated with jazz and studied the genre, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance from Newpark College in 2019.
Lee has quickly become a great leader is his own right and formed The Lee Meehan Quintet two years ago when he brought together some of Ireland’s top players in a high-octane ensemble
He recorded his debut jazz album “Some of Us are Looking at the Stars” to critical acclaim last year, and has built a reputation as a great showman and band leader whose sound spans both blues and jazz.
