New York based pianist and bandleader George Colligan is one of the most original and compelling jazz artists of his generation.
He has released more than 25 of his own albums, has recorded on over 100 others. Colligan has performed with an array of jazz stars, Cassandra Wilson, Don Byron and Buster Williams included.
The pianist, who was winner of the 2015 DownBeat Magazine Critics Poll is a long-time member of the legendary Jack DeJohnette’s ensemble. Colligan previously played an ‘On the Road’ show at Bray Jazz in 2018, recorded ‘Live in Arklow’ from recordings of that gig at a church in the south Wicklow town.
George Colligan is joined here by decorated Belgian alto saxophonist Stéphane Mercier, Belfast-born international drumming star Darren Beckett, and top Irish bassist Dave Redmond.
“The sheer vitality of his playing is truly remarkable, his tunes uniformly memorable and vibrant.” ★★★★
